Other Common Eye Care Ideas

Care for one’s eyes begins when they are healthy. It is not difficult but requires common sense and some thought. The following are a list of do’s and don’ts in eye care.

Don’t swim in contacts.

Don’t use someone else’s contacts, contact cases or solutions.

Do NOT touch the eye.

Do NOT use contact solutions that have been opened for longer that one month (they are a great media to culture bacteria).

Always thoroughly wash hands prior working near the eyes or handling contacts.

Wear appropriate eye protection when playing sports or when working near flying objects.

For sports participation wear sport glasses or soft contacts (hard contacts can lacerate the eye when hit).

Do not patch eye injuries — leave treatment choices to the eye care specialist.

Seek appropriate medical treatment with suspected eye injuries.
